This Lake Conroe home was built in 1984 and clad in natural cedar. Four decades and several owners later, that siding had been painted over again and again, and it had begun to rot in places — an exterior that asked for more work every year. The owners wanted something more modern that kept a rustic edge, so the house is being reclad in Hardie siding, finished with tongue-and-groove soffits, cedar trim around the windows and doors, and soffit lighting along the front.
